This long-lived zine shop is a Portland institution. After operating for a decade at their old spot near Powell's Bookstore, Reading Frenzy was pushed out to make way
for a much more important entrance lobby for the building. But not to fear, after a robust Kickstarter campaign, this independent press emporium
has relocated to a new spot on North Mississippi Ave. Stop by and check out the new digs!
Red and Black Cafe
Worker-owned and operated vegan cafe. Great food, kombucha, local brews & more. Come for the dragon noodles... stay for the revolution!
Portland was once a town of many fine printers. During the 1960s, there were no less than 600 in-house print shops alone,
not counting any of the public job shops and publishing houses. Sadly, only a few remain. But Portland is still blessed with
a few truly great print shops, and Stumptown Printers stands among them. From offset printing to hot metal typesetting with a real-life
Linotype machine, these folks keep it real.
Support Daniel McGowan
Environmental and social justice activist Daniel McGowan just finished a 7-year bid in federal prison, most of which was spent in
a viciously repressive ultra-high security prison unit called the Communications Management Unit (CMU).
Daniel has joined other prisoners in a lawsuit over the CMU's use as a political prison. Keep up to date
on developments at this website.
Support Marie Mason
Marie Mason is a loving mother of two and a long-time activist in the environmental and labor movements. She is also a "green scare" prisoner
serving a harsh 22 year sentence for charges related to two acts of property destruction that did not injure anyone. She deserves your support.
Anthony Leskov, editor of the long-lived literary journal Communicating Vessels, refuses to have anything to do with a computer.
He uses sunlight to develop his printing plates, and sets the type for each issue with a Varityper
typewriter -- an extraordinary feat. Few letterpress
printers of our day could accomplish the task that Anthony undertakes with every issue. Not only that, it's one of the best literary journals
in existence, one of the underground literary community's best-kept secrets. Eberhardt Press is not a distributor and therefore
does not usually distribute publications
by other publishers, but we make an exception for Communicating Vessels because Eberhardt Press assisted Anthony
in printing some earlier issues of the publication when he was in Portland. Now he has relocated to Tucson and is busy printing everything himself
with his AB Dick 360. You can get in touch with him directly, if you are willing to set pen to paper, at the following address:
Post Office Box 2048
